Our horse training is an ongoing process that is built on a foundation of establishing respect, building trust, developing friendship, and ending in love. Most of our horses are purchased at the age of one year or under, and are trained initially at Bitsfit Ranch. I specialize in groundwork that teaches the horse, a flight animal, to put respect for me (humans) above his fear, to respect and trust me, and to always stop and ask for direction when a fearful situation occurs for him. I address the mind, train the horse from the mind out, teach him to think, to respect, to trust and not to flee or fight. Once this philosophy is established in the horses mind, he becomes safe and dependable. Our goal is to train the horse from the mind, to change his mind concerning how he views the world as a flight animal designed to flee from danger. Our responsibility is to alter his instinct to flee danger and work in harmony with people, based on respect, trust, friendship and love so he is safe and at peace in a domestic environment with a complete understanding of his boundaries and what is expected of him.
Occasionally we have an opening for training for outside horses. Please contact me if you are interested in training. I specialize in baby horse mannering and problem horses. I'm sorry, we no longer accept stallions for training.
